Vol State hosts 8th Annual Elementary Art Exhibition
The eighth annual Elementary Art Exhibit is on display March 26 – April 9, in the Gallery of the Thigpen Library at Volunteer State Community College. Eighteen art teachers, representing 21 elementary schools in Sumner County have selected their students’ art for display. A reception for the children, their families and teachers as well as the general public will be held Thursday, March 29th from 3:30 – 5:30pm.
A wide range of materials and processes is included in the exhibit. Masks made of cut paper or papier mache, and drawings in crayon, ink, and pencil are included, as well as paintings in watercolor and tempera.
Some of the images displayed came from the children’s vivid imaginations, some focus on observation of the natural world, while others reflect their knowledge about various world cultures or art of the past.
The Thigpen Library Gallery is open during normal business hours. Volunteer State is located at 1480 Nashville Pike in Gallatin. For more information contact Matthew Donatelli at 615-230-3202.
